The Monstera borsigiana is a beloved, vibrant climbing plant known for its elegant heart-shaped leaves and natural ability to develop splits as it matures. She’s a hardy, fast-growing climber, and in her native Central and South American rainforests she can reach impressive heights. If you notice long cords growing from your Monstera, don’t worry — these are aerial roots. In the wild, they help the plant cling to trees, but indoors they aren’t necessary, so you can trim them or gently guide them back into the soil.

Care:

The Monstera borsigiana isn’t demanding when it comes to watering — once a week is usually enough, and it’s best to let the soil dry slightly between waterings. Like other tropical plants, she appreciates higher humidity and the occasional misting. She prefers a bright spot with plenty of indirect light to grow strong and full. Before she becomes top heavy, it’s wise to support her with a sturdy pole or moss stick. You can loosely tie a few stems to it to encourage fuller, larger growth. In low light she will grow more slowly, and her leaves will stay smaller.
