The Senecio rowleyanus, commonly known as String of Pearls, is an easy-care hanging succulent and truly a pearl among baby plants! She gets her nickname from the small, round green beads along her trailing stems that resemble pearls. This charming plant is also referred to as ‘Pearl Plant’ or ‘String of Beads’.

As one of the tiniest baby plants in a pot, her cute little pearls make her a standout addition to your plant family. Like most succulents, the String of Pearls stores water in her beads, which keeps her looking plump and healthy. Although tempting, avoid touching the pearls—they are delicate and can easily fall off.

Care:

Place your String of Pearls on a shelf or in a hanging basket to show off her trailing stems. If you want a fuller plant, you can trim her long stems; she will branch from the cut points, and the cuttings can be propagated into new plants.

This succulent prefers bright, indirect light. Be careful not to overwater, as too much water can make the pearls burst and shrivel. Allow the top layer of soil to dry before watering, remembering that she stores water in her pearls. When in doubt, water sparingly rather than excessively.
